Abstract
This short electronic study uses the Klangsteine of Hannes and Klaus Fessmann as its sole sound source. It is the first of a series of works that will investigate unique instruments that have both microtonal and sculptural qualities.
Liner notes for release:
Sound and Stone is a truly unique album based on the incredible sound stones of Hannes and Klaus Fessmann. For the first time, some of the world’s most forward-thinking music producers have been given exclusive access to the world's first virtual sound stone.
Throughout 2018, Jasmine Guffond, Paul Jebanasam, Afonso Ferreira (Farwarmth), Tomonari Nozaki, James Leyland Kirby, Monty Adkins, Yves De Mey, Rutger Zuydervelt (Machinefabriek) and Steven M Halliday sculpted a breath-taking suite of modern sound stone music.
The album comes bundled with a sound stone sample pack containing audio samples of the Halliday/Fessmann sound stone (used on this album) which formed part of Steven Halliday's MA (supervised by Prof Adkins).
