Patina of Use

'Patina of Use' was presented at Contemporary Textiles Open Call exhibition at Fox Yard Studio Art Gallery promoting textile artists and art enthusiasts who explore the versatile form of textile art through sculpture, installation, video, object, and performance. The artwork is a personal response to the grain of an orange T-shirt and investigates the remnant marks of a deceased painter at work in his studio. Stitching with gold thread punctuates the surface, reworking the textile with an emphasis on the way the stitches create bars of light through a back and forth working process. The stitches explore the emotional connections to the textile and their significance in their ability to trigger memory and speak of the identity of the wearer.
