Abstract
For monitoring the operating state of a machine and detecting machine faults , a rapid complexity evaluation method of mechanical signals was proposed. The effects of sampling frequency, rotating speed, vibration amplitude and high frequency noise on evaluation results were discussed, and how to reduce the undesirable effects was also presented. As an example, the orbit of rotor center was measured for six rotating speeds, and the relative complexities were computed. It is shown preliminarily that the proposed method for evaluating relative complexity is effective and rapid.
