Reduction of unburned hydrocarbons for spark ignition engine using oxygenated fuel blends

Abstract

By using measured data from the indicated diagrams, the absorption and desorption of unburned hydrocarbons (UHC) from the top land crevice and cylinder wall oil layer are calculated for spark ignition engine using the oxygenated fuel blends (OFB) under different conditions. The results suggest that the amount of UHC from the oil layer could be reduced because of the low solubility of OFB in oil.
