Abstract

Field recordings made over an extensive period of study and research of the various ambiences and surfaces of the John Henry Brookes Building in Oxford are performed using an electronic drum kit and Ableton Live. There are no speakers visible as the vast windows of the buildings are resonated by transducers instead, transforming the windows into speakers. The sound is further emphasised with sound-reactive LED lights, turning the whole performance into a live improvisation: DJ-ing the building.
