Abstract

Specification uncertainty is one of the most important parts of uncertainty theory in the next-generation dimensional and geometrical product specifications and verification (GPS). The procedure for specification uncertainty management for a drawing indication was proposed based on the detailed analysis on the origins of specification uncertainty. An experiment was carried out to evaluate the specification uncertainty of the diameter drawing indication that dominated currently. The experimental result shows that the specification uncertainty of the currently dominant drawing indication for diameter characteristic is too large. Thereby, the drawing indication is not scientific. This experiment also implicates that the implementation of the next-generation GPS will be significant in the optimization of resources and to reduce the cost of the product in manufacturing industry.
