Abstract

This chapter examines the positive and negative impacts of technological advancements, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), on government/citizen relationships, the corporate world, and civic society. It moves on to explore the use of AI in strategic communication and investigates what steps can and are being taken to ensure that AI developments remain human-centered. Using transnational initiatives as the starting point, the chapter focuses on the European Union's Ethics by Design human-centric principles as a framework for strategic communication to consider its own obligations to stay human in a smart machine world.
