Abstract

Accurate diagnosis of machine faults is always an intricate and difficult problem, though in most cases people can easily confirm that the machine being tested does run irregularly. From the point of view of machine condition monitoring and diagnosis, the sources causing abnormal vibrations of rotating machinery are varied and complex. However, taking one with another, the vibration behaviours of rotating machinery are principally influenced by the following three factors, ie, structure, operation and failures of rotor itself. Aiming at exploring the effective ways in which to realize the exact diagnosis of faults of rotating machinery, a series of experimental investigations and field surveys had been performed respectively on these three causes. Through these researches, not only were some applied fault diagnostic methods achieved, but also many valuable conclusions, not noticed before, were reached.
