Abstract
Treatment of 2-aminothiazole (1) with triselenium dicyanide (2) afforded selenocyanate (3). Reduction of 3 with NaBH4 gave the diselenide 4. Compounds 3 and 4 were used as a key intermediate for the synthesis of a series of 2-amino-5-selenothiazoles. The newly synthesized compounds were evaluated as anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent.
