Textures of Time

Jill Townsley (Artist)

Research output: Non-textual formExhibition

Abstract

Taking the notion of temporality as its point of departure, this exhibition will feature works by Jeremy Evans, Jill Townsley, Ian Giles, Emily Speed, Ben Woodeson, Joby Williamson, Jörg Köppl and Yonatan Vinitsky, as well as live events and films. The various artists presented in Textures of Time address concepts of cyclical time and repetition. Jill Townsley’s Scribble to the count of five consists of five videos, simultaneously showing the development of a drawing. Ben Woodeson will display the work Health & Safety Violation #9 - Looped trip hazard, a rubber tube coiled around itself on the gallery floor. Especially for Textures of Time, Jeremy Evans will produce a new version of If only you’d been here earlier, an on-going series of works engaging with exhibition spaces. Exploring the temporality of materials, Emily Speed constructs tenuous installations using cardboard and masking tape, creating works that will allude to the fleeting moment ofthe present. Textures of Time will be accompanied by a parallel events program of lectures, roundtable discussions and screenings.
