Abstract

The exhibition “The city of commons” aims to unfold the complex, ever changing relationships between community-led practices of commoning and urban developments. The case studies selected showcase best practices of urban commons in different geographical areas, including Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Ecuador, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, India, Greece. Through thought provoking images and narratives, the exhibition questions what are the urban commons in our towns and cities today? Is it possible to map them, or to produce an updated critical cartography of them? In what ways scholars, practitioners and the civic society can contribute to govern, co-produce and co-design the commons?

Throughout the week, we will host community engagement events and talks with associations and stakeholders to discuss potential practices of commoning in key areas in the city of Pavia.
