Other | The International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition (ICMPC) is an interdisciplinary conference devoted to the dissemination of new, unpublished research relating to the field of music perception and cognition. ICMPC is not an organization but a collective made up of the research societies from different parts of the world including the Society for Music Perception and Cognition (SMPC) in North America, the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music (ESCOM), and Asia-Pacific Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music (APSCOM) which includes the Japanese Society for Music Perception and Cognition (JSMPC), the Korean Society for Music Perception and Cognition (KSMPC), the Australian Music & Psychology Society (AMPS), and the Chinese Society for Music Psychology (CSMP). Through the combined efforts of these societies, we have produced a biennial international research conference since 1989. The conference site rotates between the three geographic areas of the member societies; North America, Europe and Asia. ICMPC brings together top scholars in such diverse fields as psychology, cognitive neuroscience, music theory and composition, musicology, psychophysics, music performance, music education, music therapy, music medicine, neurophysiology, ethnomusicology, developmental psychology, linguistics, computer modeling, and related fields of inquiry. |
