Abstract
The aim of this report gives an overview of a project concerning houses that were built with high thermal capacity in Salford in the 1970’s. This report provides some historical background information; outlines the key design principles of the houses; gives details of the heating system and the performance; the rollout of additional houses built to the same specification and a narrative and analysis of what has happened to the houses thirty years on and how they fare today. The report closes with a consideration of the implications, some questions and observations and thoughts as to the future developments in the area.
