Abstract
ELISION has established an international reputation as Australia's premier new music ensemble through its engagement with complex and challenging aesthetics. Lim's How Forests Think for Chinese sheng and ensemble, reflects on the work of anthropologist Eduardo Kohn, who writes about forest ecologies as the 'living thought' of human and non-human selves. Cassidy's The wreck of former boundaries is in many ways about the idea of the solo and related traditional concerto models, drawing on simple, formal roles and relationships.
