Abstract

Over the last few years, there has been a trend towards imparting circular economy across the textile sector worldwide. The United Kingdom has made significant strides in promoting circularity in the fashion and textile industries and has shown a commitment through various initiatives and policies. This review discusses the current situation of the wool market and industry in the UK and how strategies can be developed to impart net zero in the wool industry. This review focuses on how innovative products can be developed from locally produced wool and discusses the possibility of new supply chains to enhance the growth of the wool market in the UK. This review also provides the fibre properties of some breeds of UK sheep and discusses their possible end-use applications in technical textiles.
