Winter Research Festival: Documenting the Namibian Genocide

William Mitchell (Curator), Kevin Colls (Curator)

Research output: Non-textual formExhibition

Abstract

This presents the results of archaeological investigations into historical heritage sites of the Nama and Ovaherero people in present-day Namibia. The project seeks to research and preserve unmarked burial grounds and other religiously important sites linked to the 1904-08 genocide perpetrated by the German Colonial Army. This project has directly impacted the cemeteries from a conservation point of view and has acted as a catalyst for future projects and international collaboration. This is presented at the Holocaust Centre North.
