Abstract

Winter Tendrils is a composition for solo cello, 16-channel electronics and film (by Zoe McLean). The work was premiered by Seth Parker Woods at Octave 9, Seattle Symphony Hall, USA on February 9th 2020. The work explores the tensions between textural immersion and fragile melodic linearity. These two elements are reflected in the film in which falling snow and the movement of large bodies of water feature - two different physical manifestations of the same element.
