Biography

Dr Aldeyab is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and the Director of the International Clinical Practice Research Unit at the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom. He is a trained and registered pharmacist in the UK and Jordan. He graduated from Damascus University in Syria with a BSc degree in pharmacy. He earned his MSc in Clinical Pharmacy from Strathclyde University, MSc in epidemiology and PG Certificate in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine at the University of London, PG Certificate in Higher Education Practice from Ulster University, and PhD in clinical pharmacy from Queen’s University Belfast, United Kingdom.

Dr Aldeyab is a pharmacist, researcher and educator with over 15 years of experience in learning and teaching, clinical and epidemiology research, antimicrobial stewardship, data analysis and managing academic and research collaborations and projects. His areas of research interest are clinical pharmacy and pharmacoepidemiology, with a focus on antibiotic use and resistance and antibiotic stewardship. He has led and authored more than 95 published articles, 2 book chapters, in addition to contributing to the development of educational videos on prudent antibiotic use. He provided consultation to the World Health Organization on developing and strengthening antimicrobial stewardship programmes in the Middle East, established several international collaborations and led arrangements for signing relevant MOUs, delivered knowledge transfer sessions on pharmacy topics for several universities in the Middle East, and worked with key stakeholders on research topics related to antimicrobial use and antimicrobial stewardship, including the Public Health Agency (PHA-NI), West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership (UK), UK Health Security Agency (Pakistan), Jordan FDA, European/Global Surveillance of Antibiotic Consumption (Global PPS project- Hospital Care Subproject Group), and is a founding member of the UK National Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacy Education Group. He has been an invited speaker to many national and international meetings and conferences. 

He is the recipient of the ‘UK Clinical Pharmacy Association Antimicrobial Management Award’ in recognition of his work helping hospitals to establish priorities for controlling the use of specific antibiotics and minimising the spread of healthcare-acquired infections. He is passionate and committed to providing quality pharmacy education and scientific research, informing healthcare policies to improve patient and public health outcomes. Currently, Dr Aldeyab is a Board Member with the Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA), and Adjunct Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacy at the Jordan University of Science and Technology in Jordan.
